Fabric of the Week: Shweshwe Colourway 191
We are excited to announce that we have the brand new shweshwe colourway in stock! It is colourway 191 and is a simply gorgeous mix of blue, orange and green against a black background. It makes for a rather handsome range of fabrics.
You may have noticed that we name the shweshwe patterns here on Urbanstax and so far we have in stock the Medallion, Snowflakes, Dots & Circles, Peacock, Starburst and Floral versions of the new colourway.
We will of course be adding to the selection over the next few months. Do share your creations made with this new shweshwe if you have bought some already. We would love to see!
Apart from being available by the metre, we have this fabric in other forms. You could have a look at the Mix It Up options where we match fabrics that work well together as the one shown below. We also have Fat Quarter bundles if you want to mix up a few prints, great for smaller projects like accessories, or patchwork. It is all up to you and your imagination!
If you are familiar with shweshwe fabric, you will know that it is produced in South Africa and more interestingly, it is popular as a fabric for weddings; both with the bridal couple as well as their family and friends. The wedding party tend to choose a colourway and all make outfits out of the same fabric. Here are some gorgeous dresses in this shweshwe colourway. Enjoy!
