A modern design take on traditional indigo Nigerian batik fabric. Made with a medium weight cotton and suitable for dressmaking, crafting, quilting and much more.
The fabric is hand-drawn and hand-dyed in Nigeria and consists of traditional Yoruba symbols in 12 x 15 inch boxes that represent objects, ideas and stories as a means of documenting social, economic and environmental conditions and passing on knowledge. The fabric is like a piece of Yoruba art.
For an idea of the scale of the patterns in the fabric look at the last image above. Each ‘box’ measures approximately 12 x 15 inches. The fabric is 48 inches in width and you can choose between two lengths. Either a 2.4 yard (2.2 metre) length or a 4.8 yard (4.4 metre) length.
- Hand-drawn design
- 100% Cotton
- Wax resist technique
- Fabric Width- 48 inches
- Made in Nigeria
KINDLY NOTE: We photograph the fabric in natural daylight and make every effort to represent the colours as accurately as possible, nevertheless colours may display differently depending on the monitors/screens they are viewed on.
Also, if you have purchased this fabric before, it may not be exactly the same as the one shown. Due to the unpredictable and organic nature of the dyeing process of batik, the outcome often varies.
