There are so many Womensware designers using bold African prints in design, from the catwalk, to the independents and even on the high street. I think it would be interesting to look at the use of African print in Men’s fashion.
We are going to look at designers who boldly use print in Menswear for a change! Who better to start off with than Ohema Ohene a British fashion brand, specialising in African inspired fashion.
The brand founded in London was created in 2008 by designer Abenaa Pokuaa. The name means Queen & King in the Ghanaian language of Twi and references the designer’s Ghanaian heritage.
Many of the bright and colourful prints used in the products are directly sourced from Ghana, using authentic traditional motifs blended with more contemporary imagery. These designs are distinct yet wearable. Certainly for a guy with heaps of confidence.
I in particular favour the blazers and the high tops sneakers. I think they would work very well even if you are more conservative. You would simply combine with simple block colours and these pieces would make your outfit pop!
Need I say more, check them out for yourself. Be sure to visit the Ohema Ohene Website. You will also find a great range of womensware, accessories and more.
