Is it a peacock, is it an ostrich or maybe a chicken? Well, if you thought it was some sort of bird, you were certainly on the right track. It is actually a guinea fowl! Guinea fowls originated from the African continent and are often a delicacy! Originally living wild, some people now keep them domestically. They have large bodies and bald necks and are often dark grey or almost black. The Guinea fowl motif is common in West African design and can be seen in textiles, carvings and murals. The Guinea fowl wax print is certainly a quirky and fun choice for clothing as well as any other project you might have in mind. It is perfect for children’s clothes in particular as the motifs are small, each guineafowl is only about an inch wide. We have a growing selection in various colourways.
