Green and Yellow Shweshwe Fat Quarter

A beautiful green and yellow shweshwe fabric with a circle pattern. This is the original shweshwe from South Africa, from the popular three cats brand.

This one features a circle print pattern. To give you an idea of the scale of the pattern, look at the last image which shows a tape rule shown in inches. Each circle in the pattern is about 1 inch wide. This is approximately 2.5 cm.

This listing is for one Fat Quarter (18 ins x 20 inches). If you order more than one, you will receive each cut piece as a fat quarter.

WASHING INSTRUCTIONS

• Do not dry clean

The recommendation is that you ALWAYS WASH Shweshwe fabric before sewing. This will remove the stiffness of the fabric.

ABOUT SHWESHWE FABRIC
Shweshwe is a printed dyed cotton fabric widely used in traditional South African clothing; dresses, skirts, and so on. It was originally dyed indigo but is now manufactured in a variety of colours and designs. The formal name for shwe shwe is ‘Indigo-dyed discharge printed fabric’.

It is a trademarked fabric and is manufactured by Da Gama Textiles in the Zwelitsha township outside King William’s Town in the Eastern Cape of South Africa.
