Africa Fashion at the V an A
The Africa Fashion exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum is definitely a must see! I thoroughly enjoyed exploring the different histories and approaches by such a varied talent of designers. From the traditional to the minimal. The level of detailing and the outstanding craftsmanship on some pieces were breathtaking.
You will see prints, but you will also see woven cloth and knitwear. You will see bold patterns but also find the elegance of the minimalist approach. Below are images of some of my favourite pieces and designers. Some designers, I have always admired and followed but I also discovered many new favourites.
Although not captured here, you will also see photography, video installations, handcrafted jewellery and more.
I have added the country each designer is from to try and capture the variety of what is there to see. I have also added links to their respective websites. Just click on their names to explore even more about them and their art.
The exhibition is still on and continues till April 2023 but do go and see it if you can. Enjoy the colour, history, textures and be inspired!
