Fabric of the Week: Purple and Mustard Golf Balls Ankara Fabric
This week’s featured fabric is the Purple and Mustard Golf Balls Ankara. The circular motifs look a bit like golf balls, don’t they? The circles vary in size and colour from one side of the fabric to the other, making for fun and unique finished garments and sewing projects. It has 5 inch, 2 1/2 inch and 1 inch circles.
It is a print from Ghana and 100% cotton which is suitable for dressmaking, quilting, crafting, home decor and more. This fabric would make a fabulous show-stopping dress or circle skirt.
Another possible use would be cushions. You could easily have a series of cushions, all with the same colour palette but all a bit different, depending on what part of the fabric you use.
We have been experimenting here in Urbanstax HQ and we are developing a line of easy-to-wear Haori inspired jackets.
One of our first samples used the Purple and Mustard Golf Balls print combined with a mustard wax print with a smaller motif.
The mustard in the outer fabric is picked up with the lining fabric. The style of jacket lends itself well to a dramatic large print like this.
So, hope you have an interesting project in mind and you might consider going bold with this print!
