Sanyan Aso oke
Sanyan refers to the traditionally beige version of the woven strip textile, Aso-oke. It was originally made from the beige silk obtained from the cocoons of the Anaphe moth, which is found in various African countries. Unlike Etu and Alaari versions of Aso-oke, the thread is left undyed, giving the cloth its distinct creamish/beige colour. The tradition was, and in some part still is, to wear Sanyan when attending special or momentous occasions, especially weddings and funerals.
