Look What They Made: Audrey of Yala Jewellery
Meet Audrey Migot-Adholla, the lovely lady behind the brand Yala Jewellery. Before we get on to her fabulous outfit, I finally get to talk about her brand and the beautiful products they make.
ABOUT YALA JEWELLERY
Yala produce ethical jewellery with eco-friendly and recycled materials. Even more importantly, they focus on ensuring that makers and collaborators are also fairly paid. The brand works with local Kenya artisans and is passionate about ensuring true transparency in the production process and look to challenge the common misconceptions about Africa and its people through beautiful design, entrepreneurship and diverse creative talent. These principles are very much what we admire about their work and of course the beautiful pieces they create. Audrey was born in Kenya and currently lives is in Bristol, UK where she lives with her husband. Do check out her work on www.yalajewellery.com.
THE DRESS
So on to the dress. Audrey had a wedding to attend and knew exactly what she wanted to wear. To get the right fit, she made a muslin before delving into the finished dress. The construction and fit look absolutely perfect and I can only imagine this took a lot of creativity and patience. It is so lovely to look behind the scenes and share in some of the process to the finished garment.
THE FABRIC
Audrey used our Red and Blue Butterflies Ankara, a cotton wax print fabric from Ghana. As with a lot of wax prints, this design is available in a number of colourways and Audrey went for the snazzy red which has blue and yellow butterflies as well as some floral motifs.
Thank you so much Audrey for sharing your beautiful creation. Who spotted the matching tie!? Love it.
